Daul passed away this morning, she was 20 years old.

Love Supermodel Daul Kim! Her oddball personality and kickass personal style. She also paints, and from what little I have seen of her paintings they’re pretty cool with weird clouds and etc. She has a blog called I like to fork myself–ha, can you get a sense of her oddness?–and she makes emo short films–technologically primitive but conceptually okay–check them out, Daulism.

Obsessed with these glasses I found at Tortoise in Venice Beach, not coincidentally my favorite LA neighborhood. The owners of Tortoise import glassware from Tokyo, from Kimura Glass, and the tumbler I bought is eggshell-thin, so simplistic and so minimalist–it’s the default drinking glass (picture on top)–I really love it! The store owner also told me that the Kimura Glass has been around for 50 years now and used to manufacture light bulbs, so that technology is what enables them to produce glassware this delicate today! 

This concept of default refers to a preset condition kind of like in computer science, for example a white t-shirt, a Barbie without any of her accessories, minimalism… and now this glass. Hope that made sense!

Pogo aka Fagottron made this music video by electronically remixing footage from the Disney film, Alice in Wonderland. It’s called Alice, and it’s strangely hypnotic…

Another remix he did was with Steven Spielberg’s Hook, called Bangarang. Hook goes “I like it I like it” and it always make me laugh… 

Then there’s Scrumdiddlyumptious, remixed from the 1971 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film.

Let me revise what I first said, these are all trippy and hypnotic not just Alice, and I truly have a hard time pulling away. I keep returning to Youtube. Think it might be because the movements are so fluid and keep repeating… and not to mention now the music is stuck in my head.

For what seemed like… too long, the one feature that kept Blackberries competitive with the iPhone was the Blackberry Messenger (BBM). This was direct, non-carrier supported (so more instantaneous than SMS and free of charge), phone-to-phone messaging exclusive to Blackberry users. Hoping to stay in the loop with their friends, many therefore gave in to buying the slightly lesser device. I know I did. Now thanks to Gary Fung, I don’t have to compromise no more–introducing Ping!, the long overdue iPhone equivalent of BBM is now available (released September 24, 2009), but not without one or two glitches. We’ll see what @garywkfung does about that. 

Stay tuned for update, I’ll review the app and upload some screenshots once I get it working for me.

For those with resources to burn and looking for means to express their uniqueness, consider custom-coloring your electronic gadgets. Colorware colors anything from desktop Macs to Amazon Kindles at a whole range of prices (tip: more worth it to send in your own than to purchase from Colorware). This post is dedicated to those nutcases (who unfortunately do exist in most of our worlds, not just in movies) under the guise of ordinary human beings, so well-camouflaged that you don’t discover that they’re nutcases until too late, you’re kinda friends.
