Foodography / Restaurant Reviews

@ the Benesse House in Shikoku, Japan.

Shrimp puff on chicken, topped with softly steamed spinach (✭✭✭✭✭). Every bite a delight, also, spectacular views.

@ Rotunda, 6F of Neiman Marcus in San Francisco

Strawberry ice cream sandwiched in chocolate macaroons and drizzled with chocolate sauce (✭✭✭✭✩). Never were too crazy about macaroons.

Rotunda chocolate

Beef carpaccio and arugula (✭✭✭✭✭). Granted I always enjoy my carpaccio, this was honestly really good. Another place with awesome carpaccio is Pete’s Cafe on the corner of 4th and Main, Los Angeles, which opens until 2 AM or even later (I feel like I’ve been there after 2) making it the best late-night supper spot since everything else is closed by then. So early! That’s one thing I still can’t get used to about LA.

Banana bread with walnuts and vanilla ice cream (✭✭✭✭✭)

Cantaloupe, green apple, and some berry sorbet (✭✭✭✭✭)

@ a forgotten restaurant in Li Jiang, China

Hot almond coconut milk (✭✭✭✭✩). Usually love coconut juice, coconut milk, almond milk, all of that, but something was off with this one I remember (I had this last summer). Was either not thick enough or not sweet enough.

China coconut

Fish and shrimp paste (tasted like chunky kamaboko) and Chinese cabbage (✭✭✭✭✭). Speaking of kamaboko, there’s this imitation crab meat that I’m obsessed with, I can eat it all day. Kind of gross.

China shrimp

@ Daikokuya in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles

Pork ramen (✭✭✭✭✩) Pretty good for ramen outside of Japan. Although the best actually is in Hawaii, somewhere on the main road, next to Tod’s…

LA ramen

Fresh strawberries in Cambridge, Boston (✭✭✭✩✩). Sorry, plain just doesn’t cut it sometimes…
